Vibration damper definition in Bladed
Category: Structural dynamics
Problem
How are the vibration damper inputs used in Bladed to model the damper?
Solution
Vibration dampers are defined from the tower screen as shown below.
Damper inputs are as follows
- Damper mass (M)
- Resonant frequency (f)
- Damping factor (ζ)
These inputs are converted for use as a mass-spring-damper system in the Bladed Multibody system.
The angular frequency, ω, is derived from the frequency f.
ω = 2*pi*f
The values of C, K and M are derived as follows.
M = M
K = ωωM
C = 2ζ * sqrt(KM)
